Yesterday we took a day trip to Assisi. It was about 2 hours from Rome by train. We ordered the cheaper train tickets which meant we had to leave super early in the morning and get back to Rome around midnight. It was a long and hot day, but it was very relaxing and we were able to spend time strolling the streets and taking it all in. We visited the Basilica of St. Francis, St. Clare, and Santa Maria degli Angeli. Each one was special in its own way. We were able to go to Mass at the Basilica of St. Clare. We saw the tombs of St. Francis and St. Clare and some of the habits that St. Francis wore. We saw the Porziuncola that St. Francis restored and prayed in. We also had pasta and gelato and then finished off the day by watching the sunset.
